We needed a new braided rug. I searched online and went to multiple carpet/rug stores in 2 states. The only way to get a braided rug is to order online, sight unseen. None of the stores even carried braided rugs. Looking again, after disappointments with stores, I found the Colonial Braided Rug website. I called to see if I could come to their store and actually see rugs. Jennifer said absolutely, gave me the hours they were open, but told me if I could tell them when we were coming that someone would be there, even outside of published hours. We drove the hour and a half to get to Shelby, NC. That company is amazing! Donna, the owner, gave us a tour of how the rugs were made onsite, showing each step and turning on the machines to demonstrate. Her father started the business and she owns and operates it now. I found a rug I liked, but told her there was more light beige than I wanted. She said no problem, we can custom make with your colors. I substituted Williamsburg blue for the beige. Donna called me less than a week later that my rug was ready. Picked up yesterday- it's so beautiful! Colors are perfect for our living room because we were able to choose them. They also make totes, smaller rugs, coasters, and other items. One of their rugs has been in the White House!
